Cigent was developed by experts in advanced data recovery, storage, and cyber security with decades of operational experience. Cigent technology was founded from the work of the leading experts in data sanitization and exfiltration. Identifying a need for capabilities to prevent advanced data recovery the Cigent team worked with United States agencies to develop a portfolio of SSDs, firmware, and software to secure mission data.

Cigent has been awarded ten patents for their pioneering data security technology to protect data throughout its lifecycle. Cigent solutions have been validated by leading US agencies including NSA, NIAP and DISA and have multiple offerings listed on CSfC for DAR component list.

Complementing Cigent technology is a team of experienced data experts with extensive data security experience. The team includes multiple individuals with operational experience and TS/SCI clearance ready to provide guidance and support. Organizations requiring custom solutions are supported by a US-based software team.

Cigent Leadership

Brett Hansen

Chief Executive Officer

Brett Hansen has 30 years of IT experience. Prior to joining Cigent, held leadership positions with companies providing SaaS data solutions. He was also an executive at Dell for over a decade overseeing Client Software organization including developing and leading Dell Data Security business that provided integrated hardware and software security solutions. Brett started his career with IBM holding leadership positions with various software organizations focusing on IT management, development, and security.

Tom Ricoy

Chief Technology Officer & President Government Programs

Tom Ricoy has 30 years of IT experience. Prior to Cigent, Tom was responsible for Dell commercial PC data and endpoint security for five years. While there, the team launched BIOS malware/IoA detection, in-transit supply chain security, EDRM, and the first NGAV EPP Suite. He has established global alliances with IT and cyber security leaders and worked with federal agencies to deploy new solutions to improve national security.

Matthew Frazier

VP of Worldwide Sales

Matthew has over 20 years of Sales and Sales Leadership in technology sales. Spending many years working on M&A activities and bringing new technology to the market. Matthew has a knack for developing unique GTM strategies to accelerate growth. He is a passionate Sales leader with numerous awards and accomplishments.

Brett Shank

VP of Product & Engineering

Brett Shank has 25 years of experience in defense and cybersecurity. Prior to joining Cigent, Brett served as VP of Product Management at Fornetix, where he led the development of a portfolio of security solutions for key management, certificate management, and Attribute Based Access Control (ABAC). He also led the launch of the ABAC Trust Controller and Trust Verification products. Prior to Fornetix, he spent 15 years with Northrop Grumman in various leadership roles.

Tony Fessel

Founder and Distinguished Engineer

Tony Fessel is a designer, developer, and researcher with a deep understanding of technology, a tenacious desire to identify and solve problems through creative design, and nearly 15 years of experience creating storage-focused products and applications for commercial and government markets. Tony’s design experience ranges from firmware-level storage systems up to simple, scalable, intuitive applications.
