Encrypted SSD Storage for Client Devices

Secure laptops, PCs, and mobile workstations with encrypted SSD storage that pairs AES-256 hardware full drive encryption with Cigent Pre-Boot Authentication, so the drive releases nothing until the user is validated. These are the machines that leave the building, and the protection travels in the drive itself.

Secure client devices with more than encrypted media

Protecting data requires more than just hardware full drive encryption (HWFDE) through a FIPS-validated or self-encrypting drive (SED). Without Pre-Boot Authentication (PBA), encrypted drives automatically unlock during the normal boot process, making the protected data available before the user has been validated.

Every Cigent secure drive is paired with Cigent Pre-Boot Authentication, creating an encrypted storage solution that requires validated authentication before the drive unlocks protected data. The drive provides hardware-based encryption. Cigent PBA controls access to the encrypted drive. Together, they help ensure sensitive data remains protected before the operating system loads and before unauthorized users can access the device.

MORE THAN AN ENCRYPTED SSD

Cigent Secure SSDs do more than encrypt stored data. They are paired with Cigent Pre-Boot Authentication to provide the validated security + access control required for a complete CSfC-listed data-at-rest architecture.

Built as a Complete Solution
Bottom line: Cigent Secure SSDs are not just encrypted drives. They are part of a complete, validated access + encryption solution.
HW Encryption Secured by PBA

Self-encrypting drives provide hardware full drive encryption, but the drive is only part of the security model. Cigent includes Pre-Boot Authentication with every secure drive, pairing authenticated access control with hardware-level encryption.

CSfC-Listed Storage Solutions

Complete CSfC-listed solutions are available directly from leading device manufacturers when sourcing your PC.

Zero Trust Access Control

Apply Zero Trust principles to data at rest by treating each device access attempt as untrusted until verified. PBA helps enforce authentication before the operating system becomes available.

Data Sanitization

Cigent supports data sanitization capabilities that can be executed locally or remotely, helping teams reduce exposure when devices are lost, captured, retired, reassigned, or physically compromised.

Data Protection Administration

Deploy, configure, update, and decommission Cigent protections across client devices with repeatable workflows that reduce manual variation and help maintain consistent data protection across the fleet.

Simplify Procurement

Cigent and its SSD partner, Digistor, partner with leading PC OEMs, including Dell, HP, Getac, and Panasonic. Complete CSfC-validated solutions are available directly when sourcing your PC.

Understanding CSfC for DAR Protection

Hardware Full Drive Encryption (HW FDE) combined with PBA. This is the outer layer of the dual-layer encryption approach mandated by the Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) Data-at-Rest (DAR) program and provides the first layer of defense. It includes:

  • AES-256 Hardware Full Drive Encryption
Utilizing NSA-validated cryptography. Encryption keys are not stored in TPM or in aggregate, preventing interception or compromise.
  • Pre-Boot Authentication (PBA)
Providing a separate and secure environment to unlock drive encryption, PBA prevents an adversary from compromising the OS to access data.
Client Secure Drives

M.2 2230 Secure SSD

Cigent M.2 2230 secure SSDs are designed for compact client devices where space, performance, and data protection all matter. This form factor is well suited for smaller laptops, rugged devices, tablets, and space-constrained systems that require data protection.

M.2 2280 Secure SSD

Cigent M.2 2280 secure SSDs support a wide range of client compute environments, including laptops, desktops, rugged PCs, and workstations. This commonly used form factor gives teams a flexible option for securing sensitive and mission-critical data on traditional client devices.

SATA Secure SSD

Cigent SATA secure SSDs provide an encrypted storage option for client systems that continue to rely on SATA interfaces. They help teams extend secure storage and pre-boot authentication to legacy laptops, desktops, and other client devices without forcing a full platform redesign.
